Comic book villain Dr. Victor Von Doom (Dr. Doom) is a brilliant and maniacal scientist who rules the kingdom of Latveria. He is best known as the arch enemy of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic of The Fantastic Four).
Dr. Doom was born to parents of modest means in Haasenstadt, Latveria. His mother died when she attempted to bargain with the mystical Mephisto. His father, Werner von Doom, received a call from the baron of Latveria to heal the baroness but he failed. The kingdom’s ruler blamed him so he fled the country with his son during winter. He died trying to keep his son warm.
After his parents died, the young Doom threw himself into scientific studies. He also gained an interest in dark magic. He got a scholarship to study at America’s State University in New York, where he developed an intellectual rivalry with Richards. Dr. Doom’s experiments grew more extreme, and he once attempted to access the netherworld to save his mother. However, the experiment ended in an explosion that permanently disfigured him. The university expelled him.
Dr. Doom spent his following years wondering the mountains of Tibet until he found sanctuary among monks. He learned their secrets and they built him an armored suit to cover his face and body.
Dr. Doom later returned to Latveria, overthrew the monarch, and installed himself ruler. He now uses the country’s resources to advance its weapons and robotics capabilities, making it a highly advanced military force. Dr. Doom has refined his armor to include a propulsion system and be able to produce energy blasts. He has also built robotic duplicates called doombots and a “time platform” to travel through time. He further has a better grasp of the dark arts which he uses in his quest to conquer the world.
